Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest of all cancers and there is no effective treatment. There are a number of investigators at NCI, both in the basic and clinical disciplines, who are working on pancreatic cancer and who would like to join an interest group that is devoted to pancreatic cancer. Success in improving the outcome for pancreatic cancer patients requires an understanding of aggressive tumor biology, early detection, and identification of effective novel therapeutic targets, all of which can be maximized through interactions of NCI intramural scientists on a regular basis.
The Pancreatic Cancer Interest Group will promote the exchange of information and interaction among scientists who are working on various aspects of pancreatic cancer and foster collaborations. The principal activities of this group will include a monthly meeting and host symposium on the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD. The meetings will be devoted to seminars/discussions of our ongoing research and the latest advancements in the field. A Steering Committee comprised of NIH scientists from basic and clinical disciplines will be responsible for running this interest group. The principle task of the Steering Committee will be to select the speakers for the group's monthly meetings and host a journal club.
The Pancreatic Cancer Interest Group is open to all NCI intramural researchers interested in pancreatic cancer.
