SS/SC Liaison to CCR Office of the Director

Mission
Promote and maintain communication between CCR OD and the SS/SC community to improve SS/SC work fulfillment, performance and cohesion.

Goals

• Provide information to the CCR OD and maintain their awareness of any concerns or needs of the SS/SC community (e.g., conducting surveys and highlighting challenges expressed by the community)

  
  

• Provide feedback to the leadership in terms of new programs or new initiatives launched. (e.g., the SS/SCs-RA initiative)

  
  

• Point of contact for SS/SCs - provide resources to resolve conflicts. When a conflict arises, it may be difficult for a SS/SC to reach out to their immediate supervisor, branch chief or deputy chief. The liaison committee will provide information about the programs and resources available at NIH (e.g., training programs from the Office of Workforce Planning and Development (OWPD), Office of the Ombudsman, Office of Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion, or NIH Civil Program).

Structure and Strategies

• The Liaison committee is initiated by the co-founders. The Liaison gets input from the SS/SC community through surveys and feedback from the SS/SC sub-committees. Surveys performed every 2-3 years will monitor the satisfaction or challenges of the SS/SC community. Liaison members also collect individual input as they encourage SS/SCs to contact them directly for any questions or concerns.
  
  
• The Liaison members meet monthly and twice a year with the CCR OD.
  
  
• To maintain transparency, communication back to the SS/SC is performed through the Liaison webpage, the Professional Development Day, editorials in the Dossier and specific events such as the discussion/round table with Director CCR.
  
  

• While this Liaison platform is launched by the co-founders, this Liaison duty will become part of the mission of the future elected officers of the SS/SC organisation.
