Instructions for the Principal Investigator

Submitting a Genomic Data Sharing Plan (GDSP)

  1. Log in to the Genomic Data Sharing portal (https://service.cancer.gov/ccrgdsp/) using your NED credentials.
  2. Successful log in should take you to the landing page of the submission portal.
  3. Click on the button "Submit a Plan".
  4. Fill the GDSP template form.
  5. There are three buttons at the bottom of the template: Save, Cancel, Submit. Save, allows you to save your form and complete it a later time. Cancel, allows you to cancel the form. Submit, allows you to submit the form for review by the Genomic Program Administrator (GPA) and the Scientific Director (SD).
  6. Once your GDSP is successfully submitted, it is assigned a GDSP ID.
  7. The submitted GDSP is reviewed by the Genomic Program Administrator (GPA). If approved by the GPA, the form is sent to the Scientific Director (SD) for review. Review and approval by the SD completes the GDSP submission and review process. Given below are the screen shots for a submitted GDSP (a) once it is submitted and awaiting GPA approval (b) it is has been reviewed and approved by the GPA and (c) it has been reviewed and approved by the SD.
  8. You will receive an email alert as each reviewer (GPA/SD) completes his/her review.

Note: The "View" button can be used to view the submitted form and reviewer comments. The "Export" button allows you to download a PDF copy of the GDSP for your records.

Resubmitting a GDSP after reviewer rejection

It may be necessary to resubmit a GDSP if it is rejected by either reviewer (GPA, SD). Plans that have been rejected have a "Resubmit" button.

  1. To Resubmit, click on the "Resubmit" button.
  2. This creates an editable view of the GDSP you want to resubmit.
  3. Make the necessary changes and click the "Submit" button.
  4. Resubmission creates an additional GDSP, with the updated details, that goes through the same review process. The ID of the updated GDSP is an extension of the original form. For example, if your original GDSP has an ID of CCR_GDS1234, the ID of the resubmitted GDSP will be CCR_GDS1234_1. This ID assignment system allows you to keep track of your GDSP resubmissions.

Resubmitting a GDSP with amendments

If your genomic data generation plans change after completing a GDSP, it may be necessary to resubmit an updated data sharing plan. All complete GDSPs have a "Resubmit" button. Follow the instructions in the previous section to resubmit an amended plan.

Withdrawing a GDSP

A submitted GDSP may be withdrawn at any time during the review process, by clicking on the "Withdraw" button. It is highly encouraged that you contact your GPA, BEFORE you withdraw, to let him/her know that (a) you are withdrawing your GDSP and (b) the reason for withdrawal.
