Research Highlights

Some of the research accomplishments of scientists in the CEI in basic, translational, and clinical immunology are summarized in the documents listed below.

  • Center for Excellence in Immunology - Highlights CEI members' research in cell-based therapy, immunotherapy with antibodies, cytokine-based treatments, and vaccines for prevention or treatment.

Meetings Sponsored by the CEI

Frontiers in Basic Immunology 2012. October 4-5, 2012
This meeting was held at Masur and Lipsett Auditorium (Building 10) on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland.

Frontiers in Basic Immunology 2009. October 1-2, 2009
The 2009 meeting hosted leaders in the field of immunology and provided an exciting forum for discussion and debate on the state of current understanding of basic immunological methods. Sessions included: lymphocyte development and function, signaling pathways and molecular mechanisms, and immunity and disease.

Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy: Realizing the Promise. September 11-12, 2008
This meeting focused on promising immunologic approaches to prevent and treat cancer. Sessions included: adoptive cell transfer, monoclonal antibodies, costimulatory and inhibitory receptors, cancer vaccines, gene therapy, new cytokines, regulatory T cells, and new immunotherapy targets.

Cancer and Inflammation. October 9-10, 2007
This conference hosted international leaders in the field of cancer and inflammation. Sessions included: innate resistance and cancer, colon and prostate cancers, the inflammatory tumor micro-environment, skin cancers, and cancers with an infectious pathogenesis.

Frontiers in Basic Immunology 2006. September 28-29, 2006
Topics discussed at this conference included: signaling and effector cell function; lymphoid development and differentiation; and cellular and innate immunity. This conference was targeted at immunologists interested in the latest developments in mechanisms mediating cellular and innate immune responses.
